Meet Fraggle! He earned his name from the old Jim Henson TV show, "Fraggle Rock," since he looks just like a muppet! This super cute baby is a Golden Retriever/Collie mix (our best guess!) that came to us from a local shelter where he was brought in as a stray. He was so very scared there that the staff wanted him moved into rescue and contacted us for help. How could we say no to that face?!
Fraggle has done amazing in foster care and has blossomed into a sweet, fun, happy and loving puppy! We absolutely adore the little fluff-ball! He can still be a bit shy with new people, but warms up quickly and then gives lots of kisses! He loves to be petted and cuddled and thrives on attention from humans. (He is definitely a "velcro dog," wanting to be by your side all the time!) He is a mellow boy though, and while he enjoys play-time, can entertain himself and will happily lay next to you on the floor napping or quietly chewing on his toys. He really is a very good little puppy!
Fraggle does have congential elbow luxation/dysplasia in his right front leg. That limb is slightly shorter than the left and he does have a mild limp. We've had him examined by the orthopedic specialist at the Akron Veterinary Referall and Emergency Clinic, and this is what he had to say, "Fraggle may be functional without lameness once his false joint forms. His right forelimb will always be shorter. He may develop a mechanical lameness with no associated pain." Fraggle has NO idea that he's different than other puppies though, and while he may never be a professional athlete, he plays, runs, climbs stairs and goes for walks without any difficulty! He is not painful at all in that leg, and should not develop any arthritis in the joint because there is no bone on bone contact. There is a slight possibility that he may need additional medical care for his leg in the future, but the specialist feels that he should do just fine without any veterinary intervention.
Fraggle is almost 100% housetrained, and is cratetrained and knows some basic commands. He walks well on leash and loves going for rides in the car! He is gentle and sweet with kids, and gets along well with other dogs and cats. A quieter home may be best for him, as he is still a bit shy! He's a wonderful little boy though, and will be a great addition to just about any family!
He is approx. 4 months old and is neutered, microchipped, dewormed, up to date on vacciations and is on monthly flea/heartworm preventative. He is currently 16lbs, and our vet guesstimates that he'll be a medium sized boy at around 45lbs. or so when fully grown.
His adoption fee is $250.
