Frankie Freckles came to us from southern Texas, where he and his siblings were found huddled in a drain pipe, next to their momma who was sadly hit and killed in the road. All 6 puppies were starving, terrified, and at risk of dying from exposure and flea anemia. We immediately stepped in and told our partners in TX that we would commit to taking these guys in. Sadly, the sickest of the puppies did not make it, but the other 5 bounced back, and after several weeks in temporary foster care in TX, the litter was driven north thanks to some awesome friends of ours! We took in Frankie and his brother Petey, and the other 3 pups went to our friends at Mercy's Door Pet Rescue.
Frankie has settled into his foster home like he's always been there! He's great at alerting you when he needs to go potty, and he's an expert eater! He's attentive and a quick learner; he definitely got the cattle dog smarts! He's being fostered in a home with another dog and cats, and gets along great with all of them. He follows cues and leaves them alone when he can tell they're not interested. He's an active, typical puppy who loves to play with squeaker toys and chew on bones, and he's a natural at fetch! He's getting the hang of crate training and sleeps well throughout the night, rarely with an accident. He also loves walks and is working on leash manners.
Frankie is approx. 10 weeks old, and weighed in at 12 lbs at his last vet visit. We guesstimate that he'll be around 45 lbs or so when fully grown. He is neutered, microchipped, dewormed, up to date on his puppy vaccine series, and current on his flea/heartworm preventative.
His momma was an Australian cattle dog/heeler, and daddy is suspected to be a white pittie mix that runs around in the area where they were found.
Frankie's adoption fee is $250.
With the cutest freckles you've ever seen, it'll be hard to resist this boy, and we're sure he'll go fast! Being a cattle dog mix, he'll probably be an active guy, so please be sure you have the time and the energy to provide him with the exercise he'll need to be his happiest, best self! A fenced in yard in ideal for him, but not required.
