Moxie is a 2 year old mixed breed girl that came to us in December after being hit by a car. She was held at a local shelter, but no owners ever came forward for her. Because she was injured, she desperately needed out of the kennel and into a rescue and a foster home where she could be treated and recover, she we happily agreed to take her in.
After several months of strict rest, Moxie's pelvic fracture is now well healed, and she's ready to find her forever home! She's been the perfect pup since day one, and we are so excited for her to find a family that will love her and give her the amazing life she so deserves!
Moxie is fully house trained, and has never had an accident in her foster home. She's very quiet, and because she's small, doesn't require much exercise, and is not a barker, she would be well suited for apartment/condo living. She is crated when home alone and at night, and never fusses. She's not a beggar for human food, but does love doggie treats! She's never chewed anything inappropriate in the house, and really doesn't have much interest in toys. She can be a little shy with new people and in new situations at first, but warms up quickly, and then is very sweet and loves to cuddle. She rides well in the car, and walks nicely on leash.
She is fully mobile, and has no pain or physical limitations secondary to her prior pelvic injury. She can jump up and down off the couch with ease, and has no issues with steps. She does occasionally hold up the back leg on the side where her fracture was when she's running, but walks just fine, and this habit may continue to improve with time. She has no restrictions other than the ones she places on herself!
Moxie is great with other dogs, but because of her previous pelvic injury, we'd prefer her not to go to a home with a large, rowdy dog. She's fully healed, but we'd hate for her to get jumped on and accidentally cause any re-injury or pain. It's unknown how she is with cats, but we can test her if needed.
Moxie would do well in just about any home setting, but we would like no children under the age of 8 in her forever home. This is just to prevent any rough handling or accidental pain/re-injury of her pelvis.
Moxie is a super mutt! We had her DNA tested, and she came back as a hound/terrier/chow chow/lhasa apso/pug mix! Haha, can't say we were expecting those results, and they gave us a good laugh! I know she looks like a big girl in her pics, but she's only 25 lbs. I've included photos of her with her Italian Greyhound and Toy Fox Terrier foster siblings so you can better appreciate how small she actually is.
Moxie is approx. 2 years old, weighs 25 lbs, and is spayed, microchipped, fully vaccinated, dewormed, heartworm negative, and current on monthly flea/heartworm preventative.
Her adoption fee is $250.
