9/15/10 UPDATE:
Honey continues to grow and improve each day. She is much less shy now. Currently she is on Prozac which has helped her tremendously. We continue to work with her, take her to new places and meet new people. She is well on her way to being a happy, healthy, normal dog. Honey is still looking for her forever home, so please consider adding her to your family. She is such an easy, calm and mellow dog to have in the house. She is housetrained, cratetrained and is not a barker. She is great with kids and other animals, very mellow. Even the foster mom's cat has taken a liking to her and he NEVER likes dogs. ;)

5/29/10 UPDATE:
Honey is really starting to come out of her shell now. She moves around her foster home with ease and is quite comfortable hanging out. She is doing well with her "therapy" where we take her to many different places and have her meet new people. She is a much happier dog now and will really make an excellent pet for one lucky family. Honey is 96% housetrained and is learning basic commands. It's great to see how far she's come in such a short amount of time.

4/2/10 UPDATE:
Honey is growing leaps and bounds every day! She is getting used to living as a pet and learning that people are good. She wags her tail more and loves going outside! She does great on walks and has become fast buddies with her foster mom's beagle. She will do great in a home with or without other pets. Please see more info below... :)

Honey is one of the 100+ dogs rescued from a terrible hoarding situation in Trumbull Co. You can read the details here and here. The living conditions of the dogs were just awful and we are very thankful to have been able to save Honey as many of the dogs were too far gone and traumatized for saving. Trust me when I say that Honey lets you know every day how thankful she is to be rescued - you can see it in her eyes.
She is a 4 year old Pit Bull Terrier mix with most likely Shar Pei or maybe even Lab. She has the most beautiful, sweet eyes and gorgeous fawn and white coloring. She is definitely a bit skinny currently and we are working on getting some weight on her. She loves treats and is a good eater.
Honey will need and completely deserves a patient, loving and calm home in order to fully come out of her shell. We are working with her every day and she is slowly starting to understand that people are good. She enjoys going for walks and does well on a leash. She seems to do well with other dogs and doesn't even notice cats.
Honey is spayed, up to date on vaccinations, dewormed, heartworm negative, on monthly flea and heartworm prevention and is microchipped. Her adoption fee is $150, and she's ready to go home with you today!
If you're ready to help Honey then you'll surely be rewarded with a lifetime of thanks from her. And us too! :) Please do not hesitate to contact Honey's foster mom Kate with questions at katezirkle@gmail.com.
