7/2013 - Yoda is currently on hold so that we can work with him to help him become more socialized and comfortable in new situations and with new people. Stay tuned for updates on his progress!

Yoda is an adorable 2 year old Chihuahua/Terrier mix (we love those ears!) that we rescued from the Cleveland city kennel. He came in with a horrific injury to his tail, but thanks to the wonderful organization Friends of the Cleveland Kennel, he was immediately rushed to the vet for emergency care. Unfortunately, his tail couldn't be saved and had to be completely amputated, but he is fully recovered now and is ready to find a forever home where he will be safe and loved for the rest of his life!

Yoda is a sweet little dog that craves attention and wants to love everyone, but he is sometimes tentative after his initial greeting. He is much like a Chihuahua in the sense that he needs to warm up to people before he fully trusts them, but he is not a barker and will quietly hang around new additions and will approach them once he's comfortable. He sometimes gets nervous when being picked up and put down, but with patience and training he's learning that it's okay and that he doesn't have to be afraid anymore!

Yoda really is a lot of fun and loves toys, cuddling with his people on the couch and running around outside playing! He enjoys fetch, and when he's done with the game he'll lay down and quietly entertain himself with his toys. He is very easy to have in the house and his foster parents really enjoy him! 

Yoda is crate trained and housebroken.  He loves to go outside and is learning to walk politely on a leash. He enjoys pleasing his people and is very food motivated and highly trainable! He does like to carry around shoes, so it is best to keep yours away from him! 

Yoda is being fostered with other dogs and cats, but does seem to do better with smaller pups. (Big dogs make him nervous and he will growl.) He will chase the cats on occasion, but not aggressively!

Yoda would do best in a family without large dogs or young children and that has small dog or Chihuahua experience. He does love to play and run laps outside, so a fenced in yard would be wonderful in his forever home, but it's not required for his adoption.

Yoda is currently 15lbs. and is neutered, microchipped, up to date on vaccinations, dewormed, heartworm negative and on monthly flea/heartworm prevention.

His adoption fee is $175.
