UPDATE 2/8/10:
GREAT NEWS!!!! We had Oliver rechecked by the vet today, and the margins of his right eye have grown enough that his lids no longer roll inwards. This means that the eye is only a cosmetic issue, not a medical one. Personally, we think it makes him quite adorable! =) Who couldn't love that face?!
Oliver is doing great in his foster home, and is already almost completely housebroken! He has quickly learned to go to the door and whine when he wants to be let out.
He is a little gentleman on the leash, and he loves to play with his toys and chew his rawhides! He really is a wonderful little puppy, who will make a lucky family very happy!

1/27/10:
Olliver is a handsome Lab/Pointer mix that had difficulty finding his forever home while in a local shelter because of his eye issues. His sweet personality has endured however, and he's a mellow, happy, loving guy who is learning all about living the good life!
Oliver has 2 conditions affecting his right eye - an inherited genetic trait called Micropthalmia (simply meaning, "small eye"), which has subsequently caused Entropion - a condition where his eyelids roll inwards, allowing his eyelashes to rub on his eye. He has vision in that eye and doesn't seem to be in any pain, but we are working with our veterinarian to see what can be done for him.
Otherwise, Oliver is your typical puppy! He loves to meet people and other animals, and is learing how much fun it is to play with toys! He is a great little guy, and enjoys nothing more than giving his people gentle kisses, and snuggling up with them once playtime is over.
Oliver will be neutered prior to adoption, and is up to date on vaccinations, dewormed, and on monthly flea/heartworm preventative. He is working on house-training, basic obedience, and crate-training. He will be ready to go home on February 9th.
